The Fishing Derby is for people of all ages. There is a contest for “largest fish” in four age groups: 9 and under, 10 to 15 years, 16 to 59, and 60 and over. One male and one female winner in each group will be chosen. A grand prize will be awarded for the biggest catch overall. Prizes are donated by Estes Park merchants.

The Derby begins at 8 a.m. and ends at noon. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. at the Lake Estes Marina Store at 1770 Big Thompson Ave, (Hwy 34) on the northeast side of the lake. Registration is $ 4 per person on the day of the event. Pre-registration is $ 3. The $5 day-use fee for vehicles at Lake Estes will be waived on Derby Day.
June 7 & 8 are “free fishing” days in the State of Colorado. Fishing licenses are not required by the state on those two days.
