Bluesy, jazzy and ragtime! Living composer Simon Sarong’s piece titled “Deep Ellum Nights” will be one of the featured compositions in an eclectic program of jazz and classical music. The Dufford/Lyon Duo returns to the Stanley with the talents of Peggy Lyon on piano and Gregory Dufford on clarinet.
As a clarinetist and bass clarinetist for the San Francisco Opera Orchestra from 1980 to 1998, Gregory Dufford performed with many of the world's finest opera singers. Since moving to Evergreen, Colorado, he dedicates his time to woodwind instruction and chamber music coaching, and he is a full-time instructor at Metropolitan State College in Denver.
Peggy Lyon is a concert pianist whose playing has been described as "radiating beauty and an inner intensity of feeling which is simply overwhelming". She has performed solo recitals in Austria, Peru, and major cities in the western United States, and has given world premieres of works by David Baker, Eugene Kurz and Istvan Hornyak.
Gregory Dufford and Peggy Lyon have been performing together for more than six years. They have also recorded five CD's together.
