One of the more charming half day drives near Estes Park is the one that takes travelers back in time when it reaches the hamlet known as Glen Haven. East of Glen Haven the mountain road passes by river frontage and terrific picnic areas in national forest land before coming to U.S. 34 at Drake.
Take McGregor Avenue north past the Estes Park Town Hall and Bond Park and watch the scenery unfold as it passes the historic MacGregor Ranch and becomes Devils Gulch Road, a county road. For the first five miles of the route, you’ll be in what Estes Park residents call the area with “Big Views” of Twin Sisters, Longs Peak and the Continental Divide to the west. At U.S. 34 head west to Estes Park.
